Buying Vintage and Collectibles

The vintage and collectible items offered for sale through this website are generally second-hand items and, by their nature, may be of considerable age. Each item is individual and may show signs of previous use, age, wear or deterioration consistent with its age and history.

Buying an Item

If you are interested in purchasing an item, clicking the Buy Direct button on the relevant product page will open your email client with an email prepared for you. You can add any questions or queries you may have before sending the email to us.

We will reply to answer any queries you may have and, if you wish to proceed with the purchase, will send you an invoice containing the details of the item, the delivery arrangements and the amount payable. Payment can then be made through PayPal using the payment details or link provided with the invoice.

An item is not considered sold until payment has been received and the purchase has been confirmed by us.

Descriptions and Condition

We make reasonable efforts to describe each item accurately and provide photographs to show its appearance and condition. However, vintage and second-hand items will naturally show varying degrees of age and use, and photographs may not show every small mark, blemish or sign of wear.

Vintage and Second-Hand Items

All vintage and collectible items should be treated with appropriate care. Many of the items we sell were manufactured decades ago and may have materials, fixings, handles, hinges, electrical components or other parts that have naturally deteriorated with age.

An item that appears sound should not automatically be assumed to have the strength, durability or safety standards of a modern equivalent. For example, an old handle on a portable item may have considerable wear and may not be suitable for lifting a heavy object. Particular care should therefore be taken when handling, moving or lifting older items, especially heavier objects.

Please consider the age and condition of an item before using it and handle it accordingly. Where appropriate, items should be used, displayed or stored in a manner suitable for their age and condition.

Electrical and Battery-Operated Items

Where an item is electrically powered or battery operated, unless otherwise stated in the individual description, we will carry out a basic visual inspection of the exterior and a basic functional check before sale. Where practical, this may include allowing the item to run for approximately two hours.

This is a basic check rather than a professional electrical safety inspection, and it should not be taken as a guarantee that an older electrical or battery-operated item is safe for continued use or suitable for connection to a modern electrical supply.

Because of the age of such items, we strongly recommend that electrical and battery-operated products are inspected or checked by a suitably qualified person before regular use, particularly where the item is to be connected to mains electricity.

Any specific limitations, faults or issues identified during our inspection will be included in the item's description where applicable.

Delivery

The delivery charge is included in the price shown for the item unless otherwise stated. There are no additional delivery charges to pay after the purchase price has been agreed.

When making payment, please ensure that the delivery address you provide is the address to which you wish the item to be sent. We will send the item to the address provided with your payment.

We will select a suitable delivery service or courier based on the item, its size, weight and the delivery address. The delivery service and estimated delivery timescale will be stated on the invoice.

Delivery times are those quoted on the invoice and may vary depending on the courier and the nature of the item. We will provide any available tracking information where applicable.

Returns and Your Consumer Rights

If you purchase an item from us as a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to the purchase, including rights relating to items that are faulty, not as described or otherwise do not conform to the contract.

Where the Consumer Contracts Regulations apply, you may also have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the item, subject to the applicable legal conditions and exceptions.
